Today we are presenting another of our toilets: the sanitary solution at Carlshaus in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. It is available to park staff – and shows how modern technology and nature conservation go hand in hand.

The toilet block, built in 2008, blends inconspicuously into its surroundings. It consists of a wooden shed, a storage room, and the toilet room itself. Inside, users will find a waterless toilet and a urinal. No water consumption, no odors—simply hygienic and environmentally friendly.

The Carlshaus, a former hunting lodge, stands right next to it. It is rarely used today, but its history tells of protection and encounters. Just a few steps away is a Celtic ring wall dating from the 5th century BC. A fascinating testimony to the past, in the middle of the bright autumn forest.

The Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park is the youngest of its kind in Germany. Its beech forests glow in all shades of red and yellow in autumn. Those who hike here discover not only nature, but also traces of time. And if you need a break, you will also find modern sanitary solutions here – discreet and comfortable.
