The most urban of our toilets is in Nuremberg at Jamnitzerplatz. The second-largest city in Bavaria has a beautiful old city center and is worth a visit for many reasons. Its medieval past as a free imperial city is intriguing. The first German railroad from here to Fürth is memorable. The Nuremberg rallies showing the horrific power of propaganda during and the Nuremberg trials with the emergence of international criminal law and the idea of crimes against humanity after World War II are also notable.
Nuremberg also is the secret capital of the Franconian region in northern Bavaria. It’s home to our most urban toilet at the Jamnitzerplatz. After reconstruction in 2022, the whole square received a new setup. There is a large playground, there are ping-pong-tables and there is a basketball court. You can also find a walkable fountain where kids can play in the summer.
Most places to hang out in a quarter of the city will lack an essential building and the Jamnitzerplatz can be an example of keeping that in mind. It has a toilet. On the eastern side of the square is a wheelchair accessible toilet. It is one where we also supplied the house and so you find our urban modern “PANEEL”-style.
Inside the building there is the toilet with the handrails and back rest for accessibility. There is also a urinal. The dimmed window in the roof creates a well-lit atmosphere and provides ample light during the day for the users.
Urban toilets face an incredible risk of vandalism and this toilet is no exception. People will leave trash in the cabin or deposit feces on the floor. However, the Goldgrube can once again prove one of its strong points. It’s still usable. The experience may not be pleasurable anymore, but the toilet is still available. Compared to a situation where technical components are blocked or voluntary clogging and flushing until the unpleasant load flows over, can make a toilet unusable.
