Today we’re introducing another one of our toilets: Ahorntal – Heldwand
It’s located at the Heldwand hiking parking lot in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park. The parking lot is free and easily accessible. Our restroom has been in operation there since 2024.
Inside, users will find a toilet seat and a urinal. A mirror adds to everyday comfort. Hand sanitizer dispensers and coat hooks round out the amenities.
Another special feature is the design: local students created an underwater landscape. This creates a surprisingly welcoming space that complements the odor-free toilet perfectly.
Just a few meters away lies the Heldwand climbing rock. Climbers will find 18 routes there with difficulty levels ranging from 6+ to 9+. The region is popular with hikers and climbers.
The Franconian Switzerland Nature Park is testing various dry toilets. One of the main goals is to find solutions suitable for everyday use. Our two toilets in Rupprechtstegen and this one in Ahorntal demonstrate how waterless systems can function reliably.
For visitors, this means greater comfort at the starting point of their tour. For operators, it means low-maintenance and sustainable infrastructure.
Franconian Switzerland captivates with its nature, cliffs, and outdoor activities. Easily accessible toilets make the visit even more enjoyable.
