The TTB DUO is a solution for the separate storage of faeces and urine in two containers, drum and tank. It is used together with the TTC MINERAL dry separation toilet.

The faeces collection tank is a wide-necked drum with a volume of 30, 60, 120 (220) liters. It is located under the TTC MINERAL (e.g. in the cellar) and is connected to the tank in an airtight manner by vertical downpipes. Permanent ventilation ensures that the toilet room and cellar are free of toilet odors. Please pay attention to the minimum ceiling height.

A full wide-neck barrel can simply be exchanged for an empty one. To do this, push the “lid” up about 5 cm, remove the full barrel and then just replace it with an empty barrel. The barrels (especially >60 liters) can be placed on barrel rollers and thus moved with little effort.

The standard 60 liter drum is sufficient for one person to use for 9-12 months. Larger volumes up to 220 liters are also possible. Depending on the number of uses, one emptying per year using a suction vehicle is sufficient.

A standard PE waste water tank is used as a urine collection tank, either as a free-standing tank in the cellar or in an underground installation. The location of the urine tank can therefore be chosen freely, e.g. in another basement room or outside the building. Several TTCs can be connected to one tank. In principle, toilets on different floors are also possible.

A 500 liter tank is normally sufficient for use by one person for 12 months. Depending on the volume and number of uses, one emptying per year using a suction vehicle or pump is also sufficient.

The urine can also be integrated into the waste water pipes at a suitable point.

Benefits and features of the TBB DUO

The TTB DUO is environmentally friendly and economical for operators and comfortable and hygienic for users. It can be used for both private and public areas.

TTB DUO with a wide-neck barrel
  • Self-sufficient: water, waste water and electricity connection not required
  • Power supply for lighting (optional) and ventilation possible via photovoltaic system
  • Depending on location, low construction costs
  • Versatile in use, can be flexibly adapted to boundary conditions
  • Various barrel sizes possible
  • Several toilets possible, even on different floors

  • Convenient and cost-effective dry separation toilet
  • Hygienic: no toilet odors, no insects
  • User-friendly: no flushing, litter or chemicals
  • The faeces are not visible
  • The user has no contact with the materials

  • Low disposal quantities per emptying (approx. 90% less than conventional toilets)
  • No waste water produced by the toilet
  • Can also be emptied with standard small vacuum vehicles or directly discharged at a sewage treatment plant or a discharger after consultation with the association
  • Removal for use of the substances is possible (comply with legal conditions)

Important additions to the TTB DUO

Vent outlet

There are two main general options when leaving the vent: Basement or toilet room. If the vent is connected in the toilet room, the dry separation toilet is connected directly, while otherwise the vent is connected in the basement. Our dry separation toilets are designed so that both versions are possible. We have also provided instructions here

Urine tank

You can use either a free-standing basement tank or an underground tank outside the building as a urine tank. Both options are possible with the DUO. Each option has different advantages and disadvantages and should be adapted to the local conditions. We will be happy to advise you.

Both tank options can also be combined with several dry separation toilets. This allows you to use one large tank and connect several toilets or urinals.

Barrel size

The standard 60 liter barrel is sufficient for use by one person for 9-12 months, and for high numbers of users, a barrel solution with larger volumes up to 120 liters is also possible. The barrels (especially >60 liters) can be moved with flat barrel rollers with little effort. Depending on the size and addition, appropriate minimum room heights in the cellar are necessary. The illustration shows different options and you can get all of them in our store.

Barrel exchange and emptying

If you push the “lid” with the rubber sleeve up about 5 cm, you can simply exchange the full wide-necked barrel for an empty one. A full barrel can be stored closed and cool for up to a year and so you do not have to empty so often even with the DUO.

The barrels are emptied by means of a usual suction vehicle or at an appropriate place of the wastewater association. Self-use (composting, biogas plant, etc.) may also be possible, depending on the country, but should be approved by the local authorities.

Installation of dry separation toilets over two floors

When installing several dry separation toilets, even over several floors, each toilet is connected to a fecal barrel with its own downpipe. This requires the two toilet stalls to be slightly offset from each other, so that the two barrels can be placed next to each other in the basement. It is also possible to connect such an option to a GOLDGRUBE®.
