Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Our toilet solution is different from most toilets we all use in our everyday life. Here you can find the FAQ section.

The separation only works if both men and women sit down properly on the toilet. Only in this way can the substances properly enter the correct opening.

Sitting properly is also important for the body. Due to the skiing position or squatting, the stress on the muscles and especially the bladder is unnaturally high and therefore also unhealthy.

Our toilet, like any other toilet, is not a trash can. Toilet paper or feminine hygiene items can of course be disposed of in the toilet.

Please use the appropriate trash can for everything else.

Our toilets always have a fan installed. This provides a permanent ventilation into the toilet seat. Here you can also find a manual for it. (German only)

Under normal circumstances this fan is always running. Please do not turn it off, otherwise it may cause odors.

Our toilet is not a compost toilet

Also, many of the so-called composting toilets are very rarely actually a toilet that can also compost. In this regard, it is also still important to know that this is currently only permitted to a very limited extent within Germany.

Our toilet solution is a dry separation toilet. Of course, this also means that there is no flushing and no flush water.

With our toilets, there is no need to flush. After doing business, you simply get up, wash your hands and leave.

By not using water, less urinary calculus also forms.

Water is not necessarily a good cleaning agent. Of course, you can remove coarser dirt by using water, but for much more you would then need an actual cleaning agent.

Due to a relatively large opening compared to water-flushed toilets as well as a straight design, there are significantly fewer abrasion traces than with water toilets.

Should residues nevertheless arise, a toilet brush standing in the water can be used.

Like any other toilet, ours should be cleaned at regular intervals. Commercially available cleaning agents can be used for this purpose.

If you use larger quantities of water for cleaning, please do not pour them into the toilet. This would significantly increase the emptying frequency.

Each TTB  GOLDGRUBE® always consists of two chambers. We supply them according to the appropriate requirements of customers.

Both containers are separated from each other and in normal operation have no contact with the environment, outside the commode. Therefore, there is no air circulation or the like.

Each chamber is designed for up to 9,000 uses, depending on its size.

In addition to the GOLDGRUBE® , there is also a duo solution. This works in much the same way as the GOLDGRUBE®. The only difference here is that there are two independent tanks – DUO. A barrel for the solids and a tank for the urine.

One container stores the excreted urine. Urine is inert under the storage conditions, i.e. it does not react or reacts only very little.

Due to the separate storage of the two substances and the omission of water, no intensive ammonia compounds are formed.

The urine can be pumped out as required.

The smaller of the two containers holds our more solid excrement as well as the corresponding toilet paper and possible feminine hygiene products.

Similar to the urine, the omission of water and the bulk of the urine means that there is no intense additional odor.

The substances should be pumped out of all at the latest after two years, because otherwise it could come to a solidification.

We recommend that all customers empty their GOLDGRUBE® at least once a year. In the event of intensive or very high usage, more emptying may be necessary.

Both substances can be easily emptied with an appropriate vacuum truck. These vehicles are also used in traditional wastewater management, for example when emptying a collection pit, and are therefore available everywhere.

Wastewater treatment plants also accept the substances without the flushing water. For this purpose, of course, the separation in the vehicle or the wastewater treatment plant is removed again.

This way saves a lot of water, but depending on the degree of expansion of the wastewater treatment plant, the own pollution still comes into the environment.

Various companies and universities are developing new ways to process our excreted substances as resources.

Besides the production of energy, there are also approaches to generate fertilizer or hydrogen. We are pursuing these technologies and will support them at the appropriate time.
